When you are in Vela Luka and in search of a perfect nearby spot at the beach, most of the locals will not want to hear or discuss anything else but say - Proizd. So, when you say Vela Luka in summer, you actually mean Proizd.
This little gem, at the westernmost point of the Korcula Island archipelago is the perfect day-at-the-beach trip destination. The only problem is getting there as it, of course, is an island... and you need a boat. We therefore strongly recommend this mean of transport :-) !
Of course, we want to say that there are boats that can be hired at the local agents, you can arrange a private boat with a skipper, or simply take the taxi boat from the main pier in town centre.
The taxi boats will land you at the Perna bay where there is a little pier in front of a restaurant and a bar. Beaches are on the opposite side, so you will need to walk a bit to get to some of the most beautiful spots on the Adriatic. While you are there, just have a glance at the water and how crystal clear it is... simply as much as it gets!

Proizd island is a place we would definitely recommend for a day at the beach, but beware and take your sun blocks, hats, umbrellas... because sun will be there as well!
